Trenching.
Trenches for water, power, fibre and drains, dug to the right depth and fall. Once the pipe is in place we backfill and level the ground.
What we do
- Digging to the depth the pipe needs
- The right fall for drainage and drains
- Sand bedding under and over the pipe
- Backfilling and levelling
- Trenches to a house, between houses and across properties
What affects the price
- Length and depth of the trench
- The soil, as clay and rock make the job longer
- Access for the excavator
- The surface being dug through: grass, pavers or asphalt
- Whether material has to be removed from site
Use the price calculator to get an estimate right away. The final price is confirmed after a site visit.

Frequently asked questions
How deep does the trench need to be?
It depends on the pipe. Water and heating pipes must lie deep enough not to freeze. The designer or utility company gives the depth and we dig to it.
How long does a 10 metre trench take?
In normal soil it takes about 1–2 hours to dig and backfill a 10 metre trench about one metre deep with a 3-tonne excavator. Clay and rock make it longer. The calculator on the home page gives an estimate based on length and depth.
What happens to the lawn?
We level the surface after backfilling. Laying turf or seeding is not included unless agreed separately.
